Connecting Shopify takes about two minutes. Once linked, new orders appear in Octoship automatically, and when you buy a label, the tracking number is written back to Shopify and the order is marked fulfilled. No copy-paste, no tabs to juggle.

Connect your store

  1. 1
    Open Integrations

In Octoship, go to Settings → Integrations and click Connect on the Shopify card.

  2. 2
    Enter your store URL

Type your .myshopify.com address (for example your-store.myshopify.com). Your custom domain won't work here.

  3. 3
    Approve the app in Shopify

You'll be sent to Shopify to review permissions. Octoship asks to read orders and products and to write fulfillments. Click Install.

  4. 4
    Choose what to import

Back in Octoship, pick which orders to import: unfulfilled only (recommended) or partially fulfilled too. Choose which Shopify locations to pull from if you have more than one.

  5. 5
    Run the first sync

Click Sync now. Unfulfilled orders from the last 30 days appear on your Orders page within a minute or two.

The Shopify card shows connection status, last sync time and a Sync now button.

How order sync works

Octoship checks for new and updated orders every few minutes, and Shopify also notifies us instantly when an order is created. Each order comes in with the customer's address, line items, item weights (if set in Shopify) and the shipping method the buyer chose at checkout.

Tracking write-back

As soon as you buy a label, Octoship creates a fulfillment in Shopify with the carrier and tracking number. Shopify then marks the order as fulfilled and, if your Shopify notifications are turned on, emails the customer a shipping confirmation with a tracking link.

  • Voiding a label in Octoship cancels the matching Shopify fulfillment.
  • Splitting an order into multiple packages creates one fulfillment per label.
  • If you've turned on Octoship's own customer emails, consider turning off Shopify's shipping confirmation to avoid duplicates.

Multiple locations and partial fulfillment

If your store ships from more than one Shopify location, Octoship imports only the line items assigned to the locations you selected. Each location can have its own ship-from address under Settings → Ship from, so labels always print with the right return address.

Shipping part of an order now and the rest later? Select just the items going out today when you create the label. Octoship sends a partial fulfillment to Shopify, and the remaining items stay on your Orders page until they ship.

Automation rules for Shopify orders

Rules let you skip repetitive choices. For example: if the Shopify shipping method contains "Express", pre-select Priority Mail; if the order weighs under 1 lb, use Ground Advantage in a poly mailer preset. Set them up under Settings → Automation and they'll apply as orders arrive.

Disconnecting

Click Disconnect on the Shopify card in Octoship, or uninstall the app from your Shopify admin. Existing orders and shipment history stay in Octoship; new orders simply stop syncing.
