Customer data, privacy and GDPR
How Octoship handles your customers' addresses, and how to export or delete data on request.
Updated 1 min read
To ship a package, Octoship needs your customer's name, address, and sometimes their email or phone number. We use that information only to create labels, send tracking updates you've turned on, and support your account — never to market to your customers.
- Data requests: if a customer asks what data you hold, export their shipments from Shipments by searching their name or email.
- Deletion requests: open any shipment and choose Redact recipient to remove personal details while keeping the cost record for your books.
- Retention: you can set recipient data to auto-redact after a period of your choosing in Settings → Privacy.
If you sell to customers in the EU or UK, you're the data controller for their information and Octoship acts as a processor. Questions about our data processing terms? Send us a message.
