FedEx Ground Economy is FedEx's lowest-cost service, designed for lightweight residential packages where price matters more than speed. It typically delivers in 2–7 business days and accepts packages up to 70 lb.
| FedEx Ground Economy | USPS Ground Advantage | |
|---|---|---|
| Typical delivery | 2–7 business days | 2–5 business days |
| Max weight | 70 lb | 70 lb |
| Under 1 lb pricing | By the ounce on lighter weight tiers | By the ounce |
| APO/FPO/DPO addresses | No | Yes |
| Included coverage | Up to $100 declared value | Up to $100 |
When it makes sense
- Subscription boxes and replenishment orders where the customer isn't watching the tracking page.
- Light to medium parcels going a long way, where Ground Advantage climbs in price.
- As a second option in an automation rule, so Octoship picks whichever of USPS Ground Advantage or FedEx Ground Economy is cheaper for each order.
