DHL Express is built for international shipping. From the US it carries packages to most major markets in about 2–5 business days, with end-to-end tracking and its own customs clearance teams. It doesn't deliver domestic US-to-US packages, so you'll only see it on the rate screen for international destinations.

When DHL Express tends to win

  • Speed matters. Customers abroad who expect delivery within a week, not a month.
  • Small, dense, valuable items. DHL prices on dimensional weight, so compact packages get the best rates — jewelry, cosmetics, electronics accessories, apparel in tight mailers.
  • You want to prepay duties. DHL Express supports DDP, so your customer never gets a surprise bill at the door.
  • Tracking needs to be reliable. Every scan, door to door, on the same tracking number.

When to pick something else

  • Very light, low-value items with a patient customer — a postal service like USPS First-Class Package International is usually cheaper.
  • Big, light boxes — dim weight can make them pricey. Compare against FedEx International Economy or UPS Worldwide Expedited.
  • APO/FPO/DPO addresses — USPS only.

Typical transit times, not guarantees. Customs clearance can add time for any carrier.
