About the role
The labels team owns everything between “I have an order” and “I have a label in my hand”: rate shopping across 550+ services from USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL Express and postal carriers worldwide, address validation, customs documents, purchasing, and printing. It is the part of Octoship every customer touches every day.
You'll work across our TypeScript front end and our services, with a lot of say in how the next year of the product looks.
What you'll do
- Ship features end to end, from a scrappy prototype to a polished panel screen
- Make batch purchasing faster and more forgiving when one order in 500 has a bad address
- Pair with support to turn common tickets into product fixes
- Help keep the label pipeline boringly reliable during the holiday peak
What you bring
- 5+ years building production web apps, comfortable in TypeScript and React
- Experience with relational databases and designing APIs other people enjoy using
- A habit of writing things down: design notes, incident write-ups, good PR descriptions
- Care for the details that save a seller five seconds, 300 times a day
Bonus points
- You've shipped a lot of packages yourself
- Experience with carrier APIs or e-commerce platforms
